The Medina County Solid Waste District is located in Westfield Township at 8700 Lake Road. It is one of 52 solid waste districts created by the Ohio General Assembly in 1989, with the mission of reducing reliance on landfills.

The Solid Waste District is a leading resource for information, expertise and programs that support sustainable materials management and reduce the environmental impact of waste. They work to empower residents, communities and organizations to manage their waste responsibly by reducing, reusing, recycling and composting.

The Medina County Solid Waste District and local yard waste recycling companies provide a place for homeowners, businesses and landscapers to drop-off their grass clippings, leaves, tree limbs, and other yard trimmings. The yard waste is recycled locally and used to create mulches, soils and composts that are for sale throughout Medina County. Yard waste recycling helps divert waste from landfills.
